The Footpath Story

Sowing the seed of possibilities through intensive, transformative holistic education.

Who We Are

A voluntary organisation providing holistic education for children of the weak.

Initiated due to the relentless determination of a group of college friends, Hamara Footpath is a story that started on the pavements of Mumbai, in 2001. When, with a passion for empowering, and making a difference, the young men would take to the streets to teach its eager dwellers.

Today, some 24 years later, and with the help of an equally motivated team, Hamara Footpath has made meaningful impact on many hundreds of lives within the underprivileged sector. The transformative stories of the lives of the children and families continue to inspire the entire organisation and offer numerous more beneficiaries the hope for radical improvement in their own life circumstances.

Our Approach

We Facilitate Safe Learning Spaces

Hamara Footpath is dedicated to providing quality education through programs that are highly intensive and engaging. To ensure a truly safe and enriching environment, the organisation executes over 20 academic and non-academic programs that offer holistic education, encompassing subjects such as English, Math, Life Skills, Financial Competence, and Computer Literacy. This approach ensures that many aspects of the students’ lives are being worked on simultaneously, creating a big qualitative curve in the lives of the students and their families. The delivery of this broad curriculum is made possible by a motivated team of 19 core members and over 12 active volunteers, including teachers who possess specific subject expertise.

To establish safe and structured learning environments, classes are formally held at specific venues: currently at The Social Service League School, Parel and previously at St. Stephen’s Infants School, Mukesh Chowk. These sites, which accommodate both Marathi Medium and English Medium Schools, provide the stable foundation necessary for “The Fruit of Hope”—learning through quality education designed to improve knowledge levels. By creating these facilitated spaces, the organisation supports its ultimate goal: to ensure beneficiaries become educated, financially independent, and overall good human beings, providing them with the hope for radical improvement in their own life circumstances.
